It had to happen sooner or later – for almost two years over 2020 and 2021 the price of steel rose unprecedently during the covid pandemic and the ensuing supply chain shortages and labour shortages across the USA and the world. All industries were effected, including construction and the manufacture and supply of steel buildings and components.
In this first quarter of 2022, we have noticed a decrease in the price of metal buildings. This means projects priced in 2021 could potentially see a savings of 15-25%, depending on the configuration of the building.
Note this would only apply to new orders – once a project is ordered, the raw materials are ordered and set in pricing.
Lead times are constantly varying based on the supply and demand of services. Right now, we are seeing lead times of approximately 16 weeks on major manufacturers such as Star Building Systems.
We also work with an alternate custom building manufacturer who can provide hybrid steel building systems in as little as 6 weeks from order, including design and fabrication. You can expect a slight increase in cost over a Star Building, but as they say – time is money. For more details on the differences between the two products, please contact us about your project.
As we continue to build in 2022, we look forward to working with new and existing customers and building a better Bahamas!
